Highland College of Technology better known as “Highland Tech” is one of the newly established and accredited Innovative Enterprise Institutions (IEI).
IEIs are professional development institutions that are registered by the Federal Ministry of Education and accredited to award National Diplomas by the National Board for Technical Education.
The idea of IEIs was conceived by the Federal Ministry of Education when it was discovered that 90% of Nigerian Polytechnics and University graduates are unemployable for lack of industry- based skills.
IEIs are to provide short courses for graduates and workers to acquire and improve their skills hence making them employable or become self employed.
In order to reduce the “funnel” syndrome in the admission of student to tertiary institutions and the industry skill shortages, IEIS are empowered to admit and award National Diplomas.
